15,472 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 435 deaths in Portugal, highest increase ever with 1,516 cases in 24 hours

The coronavirus epidemic is accelerating in Portugal with an additional 1,516 cases in 24 hours, the largest increase since the start of the epidemic. The Portuguese General Directorate of Health released these figures today with a total of 15,472 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Portugal and 435 deaths. 8,897 are in the northern region, 3,821 in the Lisbon region, 2,197 in the central region and 279 in the Algarve. The Azores have 94 cases, Madeira 59 there are 125 confirmed cases in the Alentejo. 140 patients have so far completely recovered from the coronavirus. Portugal today records 435 deaths associated with Covid-19, 26 more than on Thursday, and a total of 15,472 infected (more 1,516 in 24 hours), according to the epidemiological report published by the Directorate General of Health (DGS).

The epidemiological situation report, whose data is updated until midnight Thursday, indicates that the North region is the one with the most deaths (240), followed by the Center region (107), the region Lisbon and Tagus Valley (78) and the Algarve, with eight dead.

DGS reports two deaths in the Azores. According to the data provided, there are 15,472 confirmed cases, more than 1,516 cases in 24 hours, which represents an increase of 10.9% compared to Thursday but above all the worst figure since the start of the epidemic.

The first confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Portugal were recorded on March 2, are in a state of emergency since March 19 and until the end of April 17, after having been extended until April 3.

The number of people healed rose to 233. Of the 1,179 patients admitted to hospital, 226 are still in intensive care.

DGS reveals that there are currently 8,897 cases recorded in the North, 2,197 in the Center, 3,821 in Lisbon, 279 in the Algarve, 94 cases in the autonomous region of the Azores, 59 in the autonomous region of Madeira and 125 cases in the Alentejo.

Out of a total of 435 deaths, 240 occurred in the north, 107 in the center, 78 in Lisbon and the Tagus valley and eight in the Algarve and one in the Azores. To date, there are still no deaths in Alentejo and Madeira.
