Spain will require a negative PCR test for all travelers from countries at risk from November 23, at an airport or port in the country. The test should be done up to 72 hours before arrival and the list of risks included countries like France or Portugal. According to the Spanish newspaper El País, in the case of European countries and the Schengen area, the Spanish authorities will follow the risk map prepared by the European Center for Disease Control. Spain specifies that the only exceptions currently are Norway, Finland and Greece.

For other countries, the risk is assessed on the basis of the incidence of cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 14 days. Travel agencies, tour operators and air or sea transport companies, as well as any agent that sells plane or boat tickets, must inform passengers of the new requirement, which will be a further blow to an already sector. hit well this year.

Before arriving in Spain, travelers will therefore have to complete a health control form that will require a negative PCR test within 72 hours of travel. The authorities may at any time require proof that this test has been carried out, and the traveler must have an original document, in paper or electronic form, written in Spanish or English.

This measure was demanded by the autonomous communities and other European countries such as Italy and Greece had demanded a negative test since August. The new measure is in line with the European recommendation of October 13, which advised European Union member states to base their epidemiological situation on their travel restrictions in the European Union, establishing a color code per area.
