The famous Portuguese hacker Rui Pinto went out free this Friday, August 7, after having been imprisoned since April 8 in an annex of the judicial police (PJ), with a total ban on Internet access.
Despite being charged with 90 crimes against him, he is already allowed to go out and access the internet, but he will have to report to the police station every week while awaiting trial.
This decision comes after the hacker, creator of the famous “Football Leaks”, received much praise from the directors of the Portuguese Central Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DCIAP), as well as the PJ, for having showed a total willingness to collaborate with justice but also due to the fact that the borders are subject to high control, due to the covid-19 pandemic, which reduces the risk of flight.
Rui Pinto's defense had already requested, about two weeks ago, the release of the hacker with house arrest and judicial review. Rui Pinto is charged with a total of 90 crimes - 68 of improper access, 14 of correspondence violation, six of improper access, one of sabotage and one of extortion.
He is behind the “Football Leaks” that plagued many clubs and players in a tax evasion scandal. Some rumors also attribute the responsibility of “Luanda Leaks”, the scandal which concerns Isabel dos Santos, to Rui Pinto.
